Mark Karpovsky

            Mark Karpovsky has been a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a member of the Reliable Computing Lab since 1983.  He conducts research in the areas of new techniques for design, testing, and diagnosis of computer hardware and combining on-line and off-line techniques for error detection and/or location, and teaches graduate courses on computer hardware testing, fault-tolerant computing, and error-correcting codes.

            Dr.  Karpovsky received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1961, 1963, respectively.  He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Dortmund and Ecole National Superieure des Telecommunication, Paris.  Dr.  Karpovsky has been a consultant for IBM, Digital Corp., Honeywell, and is currently director of the Reliable Computing Laboratory.  He has published more than 120 papers and several books on design, testing and diagnosis of computer hardware.  Dr.  Karpovsky is a fellow of the IEEE.
